Install

Make sure PGDG and PIGSTY repo available:

pig repo add pgsql -u   # add both repo and update cache

Install this extension with pig:

pig install omnigres;		# install via package name, for the active PG version
pig install omni_yaml;		# install by extension name, for the current active PG version

pig install omni_yaml -v 18;   # install for PG 18
pig install omni_yaml -v 17;   # install for PG 17
pig install omni_yaml -v 16;   # install for PG 16
pig install omni_yaml -v 15;   # install for PG 15
pig install omni_yaml -v 14;   # install for PG 14

Create this extension with:

CREATE EXTENSION omni_yaml;

Usage

omni_yaml: YAML toolkit

The omni_yaml extension provides YAML-to-JSON and JSON-to-YAML conversion functions.

Functions

omni_yaml.to_json(text) – Converts YAML text to JSON:

SELECT omni_yaml.to_json('key: value');
-- Returns: {"key": "value"}

omni_yaml.to_yaml(json) – Converts JSON to YAML text:

SELECT omni_yaml.to_yaml('{"key": "value"}'::json);
-- Returns: key: value

JSONB Usage

Direct JSONB support is not provided. Cast the JSON result to jsonb as needed:

SELECT omni_yaml.to_json('key: value')::jsonb;
